So I may explain this in the wrong way however the images you see on apk editor are only app icon pictures.
You need to actually go into all the drawable folders in res folder & change them manually.
I had lots of issues when it came to repacking the app using apk editor so I changed it over in apk icon editor and it worked perfectly.
