Fixing icons

I am trying to change the VPN Icon to just be colour like red circle when it's off and green circle when it's connected but that just don't happen when it's on and off it just stays red anyone got any ideas thanks in advance

Just have to edit the images cat_vpn.png and cat_vpn_connected.png in the folder drawable

i think your doing something wrong then ,
i use this myself VPN Safety Dot
you can run this in the background and i leave it on always , little red dot blinks top right of screen when not connected and turns green when VPN is on , reason i use this is its easy to forget your VPN is on when you dont need it and also easy to see when your VPN disconnects , this is one of those essential little apps .
