This is a question I am often asked , Whats the best Tivimate or Sparkle ?
Ok so we all know there is no such thing as a free lunch , these apps are paid for premium apps , there are free versions of both available from the playstore
but we dont want those do we ?
There are also modded versions available on these forums that require a little work but work perfectly fine.
With this in mind i decided to compare both apps , this is in no way a complete guide its just my personal thoughts.
The login screens are almost identical depending on what versions you are using of these apps although sparkle is more customisable than Tivimate.
but both run off a remote panel that holds service dns.
The EPG screen
Tivimate allows you to set the two basic colors of background and selected
where as Sparkle comes with five built in themes that can with a little bit of knowhow be made to look like what you want
the config files for Sparkle are a lot more flexable ok I know this does not effect the end user but its good for the person theming the app.
Transparency can be set on both apps but Sparkle can use rounded corners on the epg guide.
The on screen icons
are almost identical , I did edits on the sparkle ones in the image below which were quite easy to do where as Tivimate is locked down and a pain to change anything visiual .
The bottom icons
Again I have customised these in sparkle although before any edits were done thwy look pretty much the same but the fact is you can change them in Sparkle and not so easy to do in Tivimate.
Current program infomation
They are slightly different but contain the same infomation.
I am not saying one is better than the other but there are a few little things to know
Tivimate modified version has never been quite right on Amazon devices , its well known for the EPG data filling up memory and storage , If your using the app on something like an Nvidia Sheild you dont notice this and it works just fine also clearing the cache etc. on a weekly basis will help but be aware there is a problem with it.
Both Modified apps also now support a sports guide ,Sparkles is a lot more professional looking than the Tivimate version , and it also can display a lge. table like the premier or scotish or championship well infact it can display all three which Tivimate cant do.
One thing I must mention is the VOD section for both apps , Tivimate works as it always has , if you have three services working on the app the vod sections are kept in their own sections where Sparkle has a different approach , if you have say three services added to the app the VOD sections will stack , what i mean is they CAN be all be displayed in one section , you will not have copies of say Avatar , all sections are stacked so service one may have 4k movies and service two may also have 4k movies these two sections are stacked next to each other and not mixed so it gives you a huge library to select from.
With any app you just have to have a feel for it and these two are the same , there are great apps out there that although near perfect just dont feel right?

So it comes down to what you like to use , I personally paid for Tivimate pro from the start and used it up to June this year when Sparkle came on the scene
I now have the modded version of Tivimate on my Sheilds as a backup and my primary app is now Sparkle but thats not to say one is better than the other
its up to who is going to be using it that counts.
