Hoping somebody can help provide an explanation or a how to?

Basically on smarters the main buttons for live TV movies, series, catchup fav and epg I would like transparent so the bg shows through.

I thought it would be case of just needing the image to be transparent, however I've tested with images from an app that shows as transparent and put them into my app and they're not transparent, so I'm guessing there is text I need to edit/change somewhere but scratching my head where?

no text to edit , for transparent images they need to be .png i suspect you are re using them as .jpg

thanks mate, thats what i presumed but it threw me when they weren't transparent on the 2nd app. using apk editor i literally saved them from the app they were transparent on, then added them to the 2nd app. could the file format have changed from saving on apk editor on my phone?

Did this using transparent images and probably will never use it but sometimes you just have to try stuff out :)
still needs a bit of work on it. You can see i used glass panels for the images easy enough to do , size the glass panel to the button panel (in this case for main icons long rectangles) test with blank panels ,if they look ok then copy paste images onto each panel and add text
smarters normally uses two images per button/panel focussed and unfocussed so keep that in mind
EDIT: this layout uses .png images for focussed and .webp for unfocussed both are transparent

I couldn't figure it out either. When you Google transparent images they're not actually transparent when you attempt to edit them.

Two ways to find transparent images:- type into google subject(man united) transparent png
Screenshot 2022-09-12 130139.jpg
will show you transparent images of man utd.
Screenshot 2022-09-12 130206.jpg
select one AND CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW THE IMAGE for the download source

once down loaded open it up in your editor i use paint.net for almost everything .

ok thats method one............................................
method two is a lot easier :)
go here:-
and just type a subject , this is an awsome bookmark to have for transparent images , when you select what image you want
you are given the option to select the image width for download ? dont go mad around 500 is ample unless your using it for a background then go 1280

note that apkeditor will change the file format and size to always match what's in the app that's being edited
for example if the images to be edited inside an app are jpg format and you copy over or try to use png transparent images via "apkeditor somple edit" it will always be coverted to jpg and end up losing transparency
in essence, if using apkeditor check that the image in app being edited(your 2nd app) is a format compatible with transparency
glad to help further in pm if you wish

Superb thanks for that. It's hugely appreciated. I think he meant the glass icons like live tv, movies and series. How to create the glass icon before adding the image
