Think this has been solved by enabling developers mode ? normally you can enable on most devices by looking in settings for build no. then click on it six or seven times
some new firesticks have developer options disable which you need for instal from unknown sources
by clicking on the highlight seven times it enables developer options think its roughly the same for other android boxes higher up the chain

Actually no this is the issue. Even with Dev mode on Unknown Sources option isnt there....it not greyed it out..it just not there at all!
Hoping this bug gets solved quick. For those like me that updated and have this bug. The above link will give updates on the issue and what Google devs are doing about it.

Correct, as it will no longer allow you connect to the file system via team viewer quick support like with older Android Versions, So you can not drop files onto the device like before.

My chromecast with googletv got updated to A12 and the option to install from unknown sources is still there and working for me atm. I do agree that you should def take caution with updates especially now.

correct, my Point was, it will no longer allow you to access the file system via remote control like Team Viewer Quick support from PC, and allow to Drop files or download files from it. older Android version has no issues.

Damn! I'd say avoid the A13 especially at all cost atm then.
